On the initiative of the Swissair were from 1971 the long haul versions of the DC - 10 , called DC - 10-30 / -40 developed . They differed from the models DC - 10-10 ( domestic version ) with longer wings and , as the main feature , an additional hull chassis .

HB - IHA ( St. Gallen ) was factory delivered to Swissair in November 1972nd She stood up in September 1983 in use and was sold through a broker to the airline Equatoriana .
