The BMW E34, produced from 1987 to 1996, belongs to the third generation of the 5 Series and was a remarkable advancement in luxury sedan models. A standout variant of this model is the Alpina B10 Biturbo, built between 1989 and 1994. The BMW E34 was known for its excellent driving dynamics, sporty characteristics typical of BMW, combined with high reliability and luxurious features. The Alpina B10 Biturbo was a particularly powerful and exclusive version, enhanced and modified by the renowned tuning company Alpina, founded by Burkard Bovensiepen in 1965.
The Alpina B10 Biturbo is based on the 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine from the BMW 535i, significantly boosted in performance by Alpina through the addition of two turbochargers. The result was impressive: with 360 horsepower and a maximum torque of 520 Nm (383 lb-ft), the Alpina B10 Biturbo reached a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph) and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 5.6 seconds. The specially tuned suspension, sporty brakes, and the optional Alpina-developed automatic transmission also contributed to improved driving dynamics. Designers and engineers involved in the development included Wolfgang Reitzle and Paul Rosche.
