The VAZ-2107 is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive, saloon car. It is essentially a updated version of the base model VAZ-2105 which continued the line of models based on modified Fiat 124 designs and tooling. It was produced in the USSR and Russia from 1982 to 2012,
in the Ukraine – in 2002 – 2012, and from 2006 to 2013 it was assembled in Egypt. In all over three million of this version of the Lada/AvtoVaz were made.
In March 2017, the analytical agency “Autostat” conducted a survey, according to which the most popular passenger car in Russia was the Lada 2107. This, and other classic models, appeal to Russian car tuners as it is cheap and easily available. There are also many custom parts available. For example, hydraulic compensators can be bought, which when fitted to the engine give a noticeable reduction of engine noise. There are also ready-made sets which allow the of replacement of the standard rear drum brakes for discs.
