KrAZ-255B is a Soviet heavy-duty all-terrain vehicle with a wheel arrangement of 6 × 6. It is intended for transportation of goods and personnel on roads and off-road. It is based on KrAZ-214B, from which the overall layout is inherited. Among the main differences - a more powerful and economical engine YaMZ-238 and wide-profile tires with a system of centralized pressure regulation. In July 1967, put on the conveyor of the Kremenchug automobile plant. On August 8, 1967, mass production began. almost 82 thousand KrAZ-255B were produced. Taking into account the chassis and special machines, before production ceased in 1993, 160,732 vehicles of the KrAZ-255B and KrAZ-255B1 family were produced. In 1975 KrAZ-255B was awarded the State Quality Mark of the USSR. The largest number of KrAZ-255B / B1 vehicles was produced in 1978 - 1987 (when the production volumes were 7,500 - 8,000 vehicles per year).
