This is Moskvitch Pickup. The model is made by Saratov during The Soviet Union in scale 1:43. It has suspension, opening hood and front opening doors.
The Moskvich-434P is a very rare specimen. It is a right-hand drive modification of the much more common Moskvich-434 van. One of the key European markets for the products of both AZLK and other Soviet factories was Great Britain, for which Moskvich and Lada were produced with a right-hand drive. The exclusive importer of “Moskvich” in Britain was the company “Satra Motors Limited“. Satra (Soviet-American Trading) had a Pickup created as they thought that it would be a steady seller. Each pickup started life as a Moskvich-434P van from AZLK and was shipped from the Soviet Union as an all-metal van to be converted on arrival in the UK. In fact Satra ran a large operation in the UK as on arrival all Soviet imports had to be checked and rectified to meet expected local standards. A similar operation was run by Technical and Optical Equipment who imported Soviet Cameras and they serviced/adjusted every imported camera before it was sold to UK buyers.
The UK sales of the Moskvich Pickup were small perhaps in the hundreds overall. Which explains why the cars are relatively unknown. Although the Moskvich Pickup did not catch on the later FSO 125p Pickup was low priced and was a big seller especially popular with Farmers and small builders.
Within the Soviet Union the demand for a Pickup based upon the Moskvich was met by the IZH 27151.
