The miniature model is based on the Arrows A23, a Formula 1 car developed by Arrows Grand Prix International in the 2002 generation. The car was designed by the team consisting of Sergio Rinland and Mauro Gennari, among others. Originally intended to race in the 2002 Formula 1 season, this model was driven by Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi. It was meant to succeed the Arrows A22 and provide the team with more competitive performances. The main features of the car include a carbon fiber composite monocoque chassis and a double wishbone suspension with pushrods at the front and rear.
The Arrows A23 was powered by a Cosworth CR-3 V10 engine producing approximately 800 horsepower at 18,000 rpm. The engine was mated to a seven-speed sequential gearbox made from titanium alloys. One of the key innovations of the car was the advanced aerodynamic package, comprising a low front wing, narrower sidepods, and an integrated airbox. These features helped reduce drag and improve overall performance in corners.
Unfortunately, the Arrows A23 did not achieve major success in Formula 1. However, it was a striking car on the track, and despite the team's financial difficulties, the A23 managed to compete with midfield teams at times. Drivers Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi gave the team a chance to score points with their experience and talent, although technical issues and the team's lower budget often hindered their success.
This 1/18 scale model was produced by Minichamps and is made from die-cast material. The miniature represents the Arrows A23 with high attention to detail.
