The BMW 745i, also known by its internal code E65, represents one of the most distinctive generations of BMW's 7 Series. Designed by Chris Bangle, this generation immediately caught attention, largely due to its unique and often controversial design. Produced from 2001 to 2008, this model remains a topic of discussion among automotive enthusiasts. With a 4.4-liter V8 engine capable of an impressive 333 horsepower, the BMW 745i set new standards in the luxury automobile class. A highlight of this model's technological innovation is the iDrive system, which introduced centralized control through a central dial.
Technically advanced, the BMW 745i was ahead of its time. Equipped with an N62B44 engine, a 4.4-liter V8, the car could reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), limited by electronic regulation. The engine also produced 450 Nm of torque, enabling impressive acceleration. Another feature was the introduction of Active Steering, which adjusted the steering based on speed for better control and safety. Additionally, Adaptive Drive electronically adjusted suspension components for an optimized balance between comfort and sporty driving dynamics. The E65 followed the E38 generation, credited to Wolfgang Reitzle and Claus Luthe. Models like the BMW Alpina B7 also emerged, created in partnership with tuning company Alpina, founded in Buchloe in 1965.
