From 1972, the CSL was also used in racing.
The partially enlarged to 3.5-liter displacement 6 cylinder made over 440 hp and sprinted in 4 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h.
But also the usual 3.0 liter engines were used. Power from 250 hp.
The model:
Outstanding miniature of AUTOart. The details were perfectly replicated and prints were pad-printed (unlike many other manufacturers who used and still use wet-slide images). The overall impression is unique!
An anecdote:
Over a short period, the 6 cylinder of the CSL was tuned by turbocharging and engine settings to almost 700 hp. The top speed was well over 300 km / h.
However, these motors were just too tricky in racing, and the concentrated power could not be brought to the ground. A full acceleration on a straight would have overdriven the engine.
It is said that the Swedish racing driver Ronnie Peterson accelerated at 250 km / h, and the wheels still racing .... A set of tires held all 64 kilometers!
