At the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 1957, the new Opel Rekord was presented.
The new panoramic window and small tail fins were very reminiscent of the Chevrolet Bel Air and arrived very well with the customers. However, the technique was not as good in all parts as the beautiful exterior promised. Nevertheless, the sales reached second place just behind the (then) unbeatable VW Beetle.
Technology:
4 cylinders, 1500cc displacement and 50hp power. Top speed about 130 km / h.
The Opel Rekord station wagon was used by Deutsche Post as a transporter of parcels and material if the VW Beetle was too small or the vans were too big.
The model:
Simple, but very nicely implemented by Minichamps. The basic shape is already a bit older, what you see among other things on the hinges of doors and hoods. The paint is very good and the interior is well done. The engine is also really well reproduced.
