The Wartburg, type 313 (sports) was presented to the astonished audience at the Leipzig fair in 1957.
The Eisenach Automobile Company (AWE) developed the sporty version from the successful Wartburg 311 model. Extensive modifications were made to make the basically identical dimensions of the 4-cylinder convertible much more streamlined.
In addition, the engine was optimized. Instead of modest 37 hp, the small engine with one liter displacement now made 50 hp. It remained however otherwise with the 3 cylinder and 2 bar version.
In 1960, this model was recommissioned after only 439 vehicles were built. This on the direction of the GDR leadership, the car seemed too luxurious. It did not fit into the "role model" of the GDR.

Again one of the wonderfully made models of Revell, one regrets that the company has set the production in 1:18.
Small crevasse, a nice paint finish and very nice details make the model special.
