The Legend of the Peterbilt 359

The Peterbilt 359 is considered an icon among American Class 8 trucks and was first introduced in 1967. Until its production ceased in 1987, the 359 marked a whole generation of truckers with its sturdy characteristics and distinctive design. Known for its reliability and durability, the truck was very popular in many parts of North America. Under the hood, the Peterbilt 359 featured various engine options, including diesel engines from Cummins, Caterpillar, and Detroit Diesel. These engines offered up to 600 horsepower, making the truck well-suited for long hauls and heavy loads. The predecessor of the 359, the Peterbilt 351, introduced some of the design elements that were perfected in the 359, such as the iconic long hood and imposing front end.
